Sandguss wird üblicherweise für Teile mit beträchtlicher Größe verwendet, die für andere Gießverfahren nicht geeignet sind, oder die Teile haben eine sehr kleine Menge, die es nicht wert ist, durch Schwerkraftguss hergestellt zu werden. Beim Schwerkraftguss wird eine Stahlform mit besserer Oberflächenqualität und höherer Produktivität verwendet.
